The Golf Step

(Philadelphia, 1900)



General Description

This is an easy mazurka combination composed by Lucien D. Carpenter in 1900.


The Position

Closed position throughout.


The Dance

Part I - Mazurka and Three-Slide Galop (4 bars): Slide (1), cut (2), lift (3) as in Polka Mazurka, then slide-and-slide-and-slide (4-and-5-and-6) as in Three-Slide Galop, turning halfway around to the right on the third slide. Then repeat opposite (1, 2, 3, 4-and-5-and-6).

Part II - Three-Slide Galop (4 bars): Two full turns of Three-Slide Galop (1-and-2-and-3, 4-and-5-and-6, 1-and-2-and-3, 4-and-5-and-6). Repeat from the beginning.


The Music

No specific music is suggested, but the dance is in waltz time.
