The Dorothy Waltz is a waltz sequence arranged by D. McLeod in 1912.
It won first prize at the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing conference in London that year.
Both facing LOD, holding inside hands.
Part I - Open and Close (4 bars): Pas de basque forward along LOD with outside foot (1, 2, 3), turning away from partner, bringing held hands forward, then balance forward (step and close behind without weight) on inside foot (4). Step back against LOD with outside foot (1), then side against LOD with inside foot (4).
Part II - Rollaway and Step Swing (4 bars): A waltz rollaway along LOD, Lead turning left and Follow turning right (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). Step side along LOD (1) and swing inside foot through (2, 3), then step side against LOD (4) and swing other inside foot through (5, 6).
Part II - Promenade and Underarm Turn (4 bars): Pas de basque forward along LOD (1, 2, 3), then walk forward three steps, turning to face partner (4, 5, 6). Then the Follow waltzes under the Lead's right arm as the Lead steps side, close, side, close along LOD (1, 3, 4, 6).
Part IV - Waltz (4 bars): Taking closed position, finish with two full turns of right-turning waltz (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 / 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
Repeat from the beginning.
