A Schottische Variation

(Cincinnati, 1896)



Contemporary Description

This is a late-nineteenth century Schottische variation by J. N. Worthington, described in Kopp's American Prompter in 1896.

The Position

Waltz position.

The Dance

1: Bend right knee and slide left foot to side.

2: Close right to left, and extend left to side, pointed.

3: Close left to right, and extend right to side, pointed.

4: Bring right in and cross it over the left, hopping slightly on the left.

5, 6, 7, 8: Repeat opposite.

9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16: "Waltz" (i.e. Two-Step) eight bars (or "Schottische turn," i.e., hopped pivots).

Repeat from the the beginning.
